Camp Week 5 Recap!

noelleallen

Our campers made all kinds of art this week, from ceramic wind chimes to cherry blossoom paintings!

At our Grove Art/Music GRRRRL power camp, students designed their own female superhero, and then drafted career inspired collages/dreamboards. Inspired by the song Flowers by Miley Cyrus, campers made flower pots, picture frames inspired by women they admire, ceramic mugs, and ceramic wind chimes. Students also made self portraits! The students learned the following songs with Mr Shane and Co: Bad Blood by Taylor Swift, Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo, Deja Vu by Olivia Rodrigo, Anti Hero by Taylor Swift, Flowers by Miley Cyrus, Vampire by Olivia R, Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter and Rebel Girl by Bikini Kill

Baking students made Lofthouse inspired cookies with elaborate American buttercream frosting, cinnamon rolls, chocolate poundcake, and learned how to decorate and frost cupcakes with piped buttercream.

Our wheel throwing students learned foundational wheel techniques, made pressed slab plates, and learned how to underglaze and glaze to add surface design elements to their work.

Students with Ms. Joss at The Learning Specialist and Afternoon art camp created cute fruits and vegetables with paint sticks, made kinesthetic moveemnt with colored pencils to create summer tulip drawings, and made observational artwork outside!

Lastly, our campers at our arts district location made art inspired by their favorite books! The children made ceramic plates with pressed leaves inspired by The Hungry, Hungry Caterpillar, Rainbow fish inspired artworks, Where the Wild Things are puppets, oil pastel chameleons, and flipbooks inspired by Dogman comics. The students read books, such as Don't Let the Pidgeon Drive the Bus and made their own bookmarks. The students had a blast going to Wonderworks on an outing.
